After staying up late, taking advantage of the wi-fi, the 6:30am wake up time for Chuck Roast was kind of a hotel buzz kill. The kids chose to watch TV instead of swim or eat breakfast this morning; I only gave them the choice between swimming (my choice) or TV and they chose to watch TV and NOT leaving the room for breakfast. Since I'm not made of money (shocking news to you!!!), we ate leftovers from dinner for breakfast. I took another shower, number 3 since checking in yesterday at 4ish. I repacked our bags that I brought in from the car last night. About 9:30 got us in the car with the trunk kind of re-packed and we were off to the only laundromat in Price, UT, the Sudsy Duds. We took a walk while our wash was going and found the Utah State University Eastern Prehistoric Museum.

I didn't have my wallet, so we meandered the gift shop and then played in the yard until Chuck Roast scraped his toe and might have died if we didn't immediately leave for the car. Band-aid in hand, we went back to the laundromat, put the Band-aid on, and checked the wash. The kids switched laundry from the washer to the drier and then found a vending machine. Fruit snacks were purchased, both kids putting 85¢ each, a first for each of them. Washing being rolled (instead of folded for space conservation) and packed in bags in the trunk, off we were.

We stopped in Green River for gas after trying to see GoblinValley State Park, but a pass was required (self-serve) and I just didn't feel right breaking the rules, so we skipped it. But we did park outside the park and choked-down (Chuck Roast, at least) chicken sandwiches. Off to Arches National Park we went. Arches was amazing and we haven't even seen anything yet! We pulled into the Visitor Center and looked at all the information inside as well as see the informational video; all of which were super exciting. We left Arches, drove through Moab, where I totally felt the tourist-trap effect that the town has and picked up a birthday present for my dad and a gift for mom, and headed to the nearest National Forest, La Sal National Forest.

National Forests are amazing and I recommend them any chance you get!

Chuck Roast had fallen asleep so Pumpkin and I were left in charge of finding a campsite. I found a pull-off with a few sites that lead right up to Private Property. I think the owners drove by was we were out checking out one of the sites. They waved and smiled, but I felt a little awkward, so we drove on. After finding a few less-desireable sites (this is a very loosely used term, I'm just picky and LOVE driving through forests and in mountains!), I tried a designated campground, which has been $5 per night at each National Park we've visited. The site was beyond full, as in I can't imagine staying in the middle of the campground without a tag and paying for the night kind of full. We kept driving and right after I told Pumpkin that I was going to turn around and just take one of the sites we didn't like as much, I saw the most beautiful view of the rocks below. I pulled over and took some pictures. As I was getting back in the car, Pumpkin says calmly 'Mom, I just saw a bear.' I told him I didn't think so and she said it was true and pointed out her window. I saw the baby tree branches moving, so I got out. Sure enough, THERE WAS A BEAR!!!

I got out of the car, took a few pictures and then decide that wasn't good enough, so I climbed onto the hood of my car and took some amazing pictures! We saw a bear! Along with the moose, we saw the other day in Uinta National Forest, my wildlife viewing quota has been met!!! After the bear was out of sight, and I definitely waited to make sure it was really gone before I put my camera down, we turned around around and found a lovely campsite. Chuck Roast continued to sleep so Pumpkin and I made dried garlic mashed potatoes with dried veggies, a packet of chicken, and parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. It was quite delicious, the 'potato soup' I made :)

After dinner and clean up, Pumpkin and I were on our 3rd round of Mexican Trail Dominoes when we started to hear rustling in the trees over Pumpkin's right shoulder... Pumpkin kept trying to chat and play, but I was a little more than interested, especially after seeing a bear. The rustling got louder until we saw a deer walk through our camp!

We played Uno and Skip-Bo, as is now the norm, posed with the Cotopaxi pack for a picture for grandpa, and then went to sleep. Tomorrow is an early day at Arches so we can hike without Chuck Roast almost 'dying' due to too much heat. Hoping for some wildlife in the middle of the night... I say while it's still a little light out ;)
